To the Hon’ble the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina
The Petition of the Inhabitants residen in the upper end of the Counties of Dobbs, Edgecombe [and] Wayne Humbly Sheweth.
That the great distance from their place[s] of Residence to the Court House of the County to which they Respectively belong renders their attendance on [torn] Musters and Elections inconvenent and Expencive; they therefore pray that a Seperate County be Established by the following Lines to Wit: Beginning on Great Cotentnea Creek at Craven County line, Running then[ce] to Pitt County line, thence with Pitt County line to Edge[combe] line, thence a Direct line to Geddens on the upper Bridge of Tosnot, thence a Direct line to Great Contentnea Creek Opposite the Mouth of Black Creek, thence a derect line to Wayne County line where it crosses Nawhanty Swamp, thence along Wayne line to the Head of Brittons Branch, thence a Direct line from the Head of said Branch to the Head of a Rainbow, thence down the Various Courses of Rainbow to Great Contentnea Creek, thence down the Meanders thereof to the Beginning.

Information: Order to Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions of Dobbs Co. to send trial records regarding indictment of Graves BRIGHT. Attached is a document from that court which is very faded. It is an indictment against BRIGHT for assaults on Joseph TILLGHMAN and Richard TILLGHMAN. Then there is an unreadable sentence that appears to have the names M. HANDY, county atty. and Thomas HENBY, prosecutor. Then says that after the indictment was brought forward as a true bill, said BRIGHT pled guilty and submitted to the mercy of the court. [This is very faded. There is a clearer copy later in the folder].
