My wife was born and raised in Sanford, NC. I've been researching her tree for over three years now, and I've learned a great deal. But, I've also hit some brick walls.

I am looking for any records to document the existence of Men Repent Scurlock of Chatham County. (Yes, I know this is not eastern NC.) He was supposedly born in 1719, and IF he was born in the Chatham County area, it would have been Craven County at that time. He supposedly married Amanda Moore in 1739, so I'm looking for marriage bonds or deed records from Craven County. Unfortunately, Craven County only has deed records dating to 1739 online, and it does not appear that they have any marriage bond records online.

I know for certain that he is NOT the son of Thomas Scurlock of Virginia (whose son Mial migrated to Chatham County and became a prominent citizen there.)

I'm also interested in finding any ships manifests (likely from New Bern or Wilmington) that might list the Burns family who immigrated from Scotland in the early 1700s, likely landing in Wilmington. The father's name was John Heinrich Burns, and he had several sons, James, John, Joseph, and McGuier.

I live in Texas and am no longer able to travel to NC, so any help with the location of digital records or suggestions for books that might help would be most appreciated.

These are the familysearch records for the aforementioned people:
