Good news for researchers with roots in Beaufort County, NC. The Beaufort County Genealogical Society’s House Cemetery Records are now available online.
The records were compiled by Mr. Leslie F. House who was the first President of BCGS.
They were gathered during the late 1970’s thru the early 1980’s, with help from several others. The House Cemetery records are surveys consisting of a large portion of Beaufort County cemeteries and a few in other adjoining counties. The surveys typically show locations of cemeteries and who may be buried in them. These record sets have been beneficial to researchers searching within the county, giving them clues on where to find their ancestors. BCGS is fortunate that recently, Edwin Averette scanned and performed OCR (optical character recognition) on the PDFs so that they can be searched by genealogists.
